Understanding Myopia and Myopia Management Spectacle Lenses

Myopia, or nearsightedness, is a common refractive error that causes distant objects to appear blurry. In the US, 30-35% of children and adolescents aged 5-19 are diagnosed with myopia. A one diopter increase in myopia increases the risk of myopic macular degeneration by 67%.
Myopia management spectacle lenses, therefore, are designed to slow down or manage the progression of myopia in children and young adults.
